Robin Hunter Buskey, MPAS, PA-C
Ms Hunter Buskey is on active duty with the United States Public Health Service, Commissioned Corps, rank, O5, as a Physician Assistant (PA). She is assigned to the Department of Justice, Bureau of Prisons at the Federal Medical Center in Butner, North Carolina. Prior to moving to North Carolina, she worked in several institutions in New York State including Sound Shore Medical Center, Gurwin Jewish Geriatric Center and Montefiore Medical Center. She has also practiced as a Physical Therapist.
Ms. Hunter Buskey attended the State University of New York at Stony Brook receiving two BS degrees. She earned her masters degree from the University of Nebraska in 2002. She has participated in the leadership of the PA profession since she entered PA school in 1983. She has served in many roles including president of the New York State Society of Physician Assistants and president of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Physician Assistant Foundation.
In 2000, Robin was appointed to the North Carolina Medical Board by the Governor. She is completing her sixth year of service. She served on the New York Board for Professional Medical Conduct for nine years, one of two non-physician members nationwide who have served on more than one medical board. She was elected to the Federation of State Medical Boards in 2005 for a three-year term, the first physician assistant to serve.
Ms. Hunter Buskey has and continues to provide lectures to health care professionals and public groups. She has mentored students. She has volunteered for community and health care related groups. Robin is a life member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and has held leadership positions at all levels of the organization. For her achievements she has received many honors and awards including, Distinguished Alumnus from Stony Brook University, Community Service Award from the Honorable Edolphus Towns, PA of the year (2005) by the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States and PA of the year (2006) by the North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants. Delta Mu Zeta Chapter honored her as Zeta of the year in 1995.
